Tradition is the name of the game in this popular High Street pub!. There are always seven cask conditioned ales on sale plus at least four lagers together with traditional ciders, stouts and porters. There is a definite commitment to the smaller breweries and much pride is taken in the quality of the beers sold. Although it looks a plumbers nightmare, the large cellar is fully air-conditioned to keep all the beers in tip-top condition.
Three rooms of various sizes surround the bar, each with a distinctly different flavour. Very popular with the locals, the room at the rear of the building always has a collection of folk playing either dominoes or cribbage whereas the front bar, which features a wooden floor and log fire often has a darts game in progress.
The third room is frequented by people that wish to be a little quieter!.
There are also two other rooms which are available for meetings or parties, the largest is able to hold up to 30 people. OHP equipment is available if required.
Food is always available at lunchtimes and early evening and ranges from 'Bar Snacks' to traditional English meals using locally produced goods where possible, preferably organic or home-grown.
There is generally a food theme night, held once a month, when meals from around the world are presented. Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Thai, French and good old-fashioned English school dinners are just a few of those served in the past.
At the rear of the building is a huge car-park and equally huge garden. Set to one side is the skittles alley which is ideal for functions or works event's and also features a dart board.
The lawned garden has an area set aside for children and has a climbing assembly with a safety approved surface underneath.
